“As for me, I would seek God, and to God would I commit my cause, who does great things and unsearchable, marvelous things without number” (Job 5:8-9).
An Arabic seminar took place at the Midnight Call campus in Dübendorf from July 24th to August 7th, 2024. We were able to experience God’s guidance in numerous ways over the course of those two weeks. The lessons were intensive, the workshops and prayer sessions were valuable, and the weather was good. Walid and Astrid el Khouri did an unprecedented amount of work at Maranatha House. And with Joshua Keller’s help, all of the participants were picked up and returned home on schedule. We also don’t want to forget the many volunteers from the church who helped us with a variety of tasks (cleaning, food preparation, and more).
Our main program was about Colossians 1:28-29: “Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.”
The program consisted of instruction and training. The training took place in Stuttgart, Germany, on the weekend of August 2-4. We visited two different churches, and the highlight was the street evangelism on Saturday. The whole team swarmed like bees to serve the Lord. Muslims from different countries heard God’s Word through personal conversations, and received a New Testament. All of our free copies of Why It Pays to Be a Christian (out of print in English) were given away. It’s proven to be an effective means of evangelism every time.
One Encounter
Mrs. A. is a divorced Muslim refugee from Syria living in eastern Germany. She feels alone, abandoned by the Islamic faith, and she was very hurt by her Muslim husband. A married couple shared a message with her, and the three of them had an extended conversation. Afterward, the woman happily accepted Jesus into her heart. She asked how a Christian should pray, and where she should begin reading in the New Testament. She also asked the couple to pray with her for inner peace and forgiveness. It’s hard to believe, but after that, the woman stood next to the book table and sang from our song sheet with us. The song in Arabic was “He Has Set Me Free.” The couple invited her to join our group at the youth hostel, and she stayed overnight in the young womens’ room. The next day during morning prayer, she said, “I haven’t had this kind of peace and such a good, deep sleep in a long time.”
There are more examples like this, but this is enough for now. In the end, we can only testify to the words from Job: The Lord does great things!
