WORLD - China and USA to Dictate?

The concept of a “G2”—a more exclusive version of the Group of Seven or Group of 20 forums—was introduced in 2005 by American economist C. Fred Bergsten to underscore the importance of communication between the world’s two biggest economies.

There is no doubt that China and the U.S. have a significant impact on the world. But we should not forget there are more than 190 countries on our planet,” Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in response to a question from NBC News. “World history has always been written by many countries together, and the future of humanity will be forged through the collective efforts of all nations.”

The “G2” concept is a thorny one for China, which bases much of its diplomacy in the Global South on opposing the idea that major powers should dictate to smaller ones. It is also reluctant to take on more responsibility for global governance if it means being drawn into conflicts in the Middle East and elsewhere that have stymied the U.S.

Commentary: We do well to reassure ourselves that nothing happens on planet earth outside the permissive will of God the Creator.

Consulting Scripture, we receive a revelation of the future. Isaiah 2:3-4 declares: “And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.”

The prophet Micah confirms this: “And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more” (Micah 4:3).

The god of this world is feverishly working to bring about peace and prosperity through merchandise. At this time, China has the upper hand. According to WorldPopulationReview.com, China accounts for about 18% of total global manufacturing output; the US around 9.5%.

With this in mind, we come to an interesting and informative statement about the final days of planet earth. Revelation 18 is the manufacturing chapter, identifying the last global economy with the name “Mystery Babylon.” It’s no longer death and destruction, the result of the Great Tribulation, but: “And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more” (verse 11).
