USA - Undocumented Residents

ree

Although complete data is not yet available, Pew estimates that the undocumented population has likely dropped off in 2025.

Pew said it uses the labels “unauthorized” and “undocumented” to capture a range of statuses, including many immigrants who entered the United States legally, and it groups together immigrants living with impermanent statuses.

Of the 6 million undocumented immigrants with deportation protections, about 2.6 million people were asylum applicants and 1 million people were migrants who had been released by US Customs and Border Protection, typically with orders to appear in immigration court, Pew found. About 700,000 were migrants who entered the US legally and were paroled into the country.

“A lot of those people had humanitarian claims that might lead them to being granted asylum in the US,” said Jeffrey Passel, senior demographer at Pew Research Center. “That they were fleeing persecution of various kinds in their home country.”

Six states—California, Texas, Florida, New York, New Jersey and Illinois—were home to more than half of all unauthorized immigrants in the country [in 2023].

Commentary: According to Wikipedia, “international migrant stock” dated 2 March 2025, revealed the percentage of foreign-born residents in select industrialized, developed countries: Australia leads with 30.1%, followed by Switzerland 28.8%, Germany 19.8%, UK 17.1%, and US 15.2%.

In the first book of the Bible, we read: “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth” (Genesis 1:28). We note the words “replenish the earth.” That obviously includes travel. There is much to be said about subduing planet earth.

As far as dominion is concerned, mankind has come a long way in identifying the five continents, and now has settled on earth with about 8 billion people.

We read in Daniel 12:4: “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” A Google search reveals: “There are an estimated 12,000-14,000 planes in the air at any given moment worldwide.” Travel & Leisure stated on 3 March 2025: “There are anywhere from 160,000-200,000 planes landing on a typical day.” That indeed qualifies for “many shall run to and fro.”

We may say science has reached its pinnacle in our days, resulting in unprecedented communication and transportation possibilities.

One of the most published issues is environmentalism. That issue will help unify humanity and will end in the fulfillment of Revelation 13:13: “And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men.” “Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders” (2 Thessalonians 2:9).

When Jesus was on the way to Jerusalem, the Samaritans “did not receive him.” The disciples then asked, “Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?” (Luke 9:54). Jesus’ answer: “But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of” (verse 55).

Again, the good news is that many legal and illegal immigrants are finding the Lord and are being added to the Church, the body of Christ. That is reason to rejoice.
