UN - Says Israel Targeted Children

In a report, the commission—which last year concluded Israel had committed genocide in Gaza—found that Israeli military operations have continued causing “unprecedented death, injury and trauma” to Palestinian children.

The Israeli government has repeatedly denied committing genocide, and officials swiftly decried [the] UN findings.

The Foreign Ministry called it “a propaganda piece as outrageous as its previous ones,” while Danny Danon, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, called it a “political blood libel disguised as a UN document.”

“Instead of addressing Hamas’ crimes, the October 7 massacre, the hostages, and Hamas’ cynical use of children and civilians as human shields, the commission has once again chosen to place Israel in the dock,” Danon said.

The commission called on the Israeli government to “immediately halt military operations in Gaza,” and to abide by its “special obligations towards children under international law.”

Commentary: While UN officials, including the Secretary-General, have strongly condemned Hamas’ actions, particularly the October 7th attack, the UN General Assembly has struggled to formally pass a resolution explicitly condemning Hamas by name, due to the intense geopolitical division among member states.

When it comes to Israel, we read: “The United Nations does not have a single, static figure for all condemnations, but since 2015, the UN General Assembly alone has adopted over 170 resolutions explicitly condemning Israel.”

This seems very strange: Most of the states condemning Israel have little to no relations with the Jewish State. Their condemnation is simply just because they are Jews.

From Biblical prophetic aspects, we clearly see the continuous, painful fulfillment of antisemitism throughout history. BibleHub.com states: “The animosity towards the Jews can be traced back to the early biblical narratives. In Genesis, God establishes a covenant with Abraham, promising that his descendants would become a great nation (Genesis 12:2-3). This divine favor, however, often set the Israelites apart, leading to jealousy and hostility from surrounding nations.”

Not only the “surrounding nations,” but nations far away from Israel with little or no relationship to Israel. For example, North Korea, Venezuela, and Cuba, to mention three. That, although painful to the Jewish people, confirms the simple, prophetic truth of Holy Scripture.
