The Creator is in control of His creation

If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be. He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap” (Ecclesiastes 11:3-4).

When it comes to the weather, today’s meteorologists have wonderful tools at their disposal. They can actually see the movement of clouds, wind, temperature, and pressure across the land. Based on these movements, the weather reporters—whether on radio, TV, or internet—make their predictions of what to expect in the next hours or days.

In today’s modern society, it seems almost comical to hear or see weather prognosticators make their case on radio or TV. Everyone who has a smartphone can follow the weather patterns up to 10 days in advance in most cases.

Nevertheless, experience tells us that there is no such thing as a 100% prediction. These days, when things go wrong and so-called natural catastrophes occur, the usual statement is that it’s all due to global warming and/or climate change.

Not so when we read the Bible. There we find the weather patterns are exclusively the responsibility of the Creator.

Verse 4 warns farmers, for example, not to attempt forecasting the direction of the wind and the clouds, because when there is no seed time, there will be no harvest time. Job declares: “Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north. By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened. Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright cloud” (Job 37:9-11).

In summary, the Creator is in control of His creation.

In the meantime, however, humanity on planet earth does its own figuring.

A recent article from the Israeli business news site Globes, speaks of the increase of food production the world over due to “advanced fertilizer technology and its Zionist values.”

“Eight billion people live on planet Earth, double the number of fifty years ago, but the area of agricultural land has not increased,” said ICL CEO Elad Aharonson. “Therefore, the question is how do we feed twice the number of people, as the population continues to grow, with the same agricultural production line?”

The answer, according to Aharonson, lies in advanced fertilizers, particularly those produced by ICL Group. “Bill Gates is very active in agriculture and nutrition security. He says that between 40% and 50% of the people on Earth owe their ability to live to the increasing use of fertilizers,” he said.

ICL was founded a hundred years ago by businessman and mining engineer Moshe Novomeysky under the name Palestine Potash Company. It became a global company traded on the Tel Aviv and New York stock exchanges. The company has annual sales of $7 billion, and has distributed $3.4 billion in dividends in the past decade. It is 75-80% owned by the public, directly or through financial institutions.

The Dead Sea concession, awarded to the company (then a state-owned company known as the Dead Sea Works) in 1961 and extended to 2030 when the company was privatized in the 1990s, generates billions of dollars in annual revenue. The extraction of minerals from the Dead Sea—bromine, potash and magnesium—is one of the cheapest and most efficient operations of its kind in the world.

Taking the US as an example, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, the average yield of corn per acre in 1961 was 62.4 bushels. That has just about tripled to 186.7 bushels per acre in 2025.

However, despite amazing increases in food production, the bottom line still remains: No rain, no seed, no harvest. Genesis 8:22 declares: “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” And Jeremiah backs up this statement, revealing that the ordinances are based on “my covenant”: “Thus saith the LORD; If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth” (Jeremiah 33:25).
