JAPAN - Industry Would Struggle Without Foreign Workers

Nearly two-thirds of Japanese companies employing overseas workers say their operations would be disrupted if they became unable to recruit more, according to survey results.

The proportion of companies already employing foreign nationals was highest in accommodation and food services (at 42.9%), followed by manufacturing (40.1%) and nursing and healthcare (36.4%).

The impact was particularly pronounced in nursing and healthcare, where 93.8% of employers said not being able to hire new foreign workers would cause issues. The figure was 73.7% in transportation and 73.1% in manufacturing.

The survey also found 51.7% of respondents favored increasing opportunities for foreign nationals with skills, knowledge and the ability to adapt to life in Japan, with the companies saying they should be allowed to remain without a fixed maximum period of stay and bring family members to the nation to live.

Commentary: When it comes to labor, the industrial nations definitely need help from other countries. While in Europe, the integration is somewhat successful, it seems more difficult in Japan, because of the many strict national rules and conventions.

For our understanding, the message is plain: Welcome to the global world! Despite often extreme diversity, in the end, Antichrist’s globalism will be victorious, albeit temporary.
