USA - America Has Never Defended Israel

When it comes to defending Israel, Huckabee does not hesitate. There is an intensity to the way he makes Israel’s case that can be difficult to find even among official Israeli spokespeople. He reaches for arguments that are not part of the standard political script: the growth of Israel’s Christian population from 34,000 in 1948 to nearly 200,000 today; Arab doctors heading departments at Hadassah Medical Center and supervising Jewish staff; and the fact that his own wife was treated by an Arab doctor and a Jewish doctor who have worked together for 20 years. “So if that’s apartheid, they’re not good at it,” he said.
Asked what the United States would be prepared to do to defend Israel in a broader regional war, Huckabee turned the premise of the question on its head. “America has never defended Israel,” he said. “Not one time since 1948 has America ever put boots on the ground for Israel.” When Washington acts against Iran, he argued, it is not defending Israel but protecting its own interests. “When we are partnering against Iran, we’re not defending Israel, we’re defending the United States,” he said. “Israel is maybe the appetizer, but we’re the entree.” For nearly 50 years, he added, Tehran has been saying “death to America,” and Washington should take that threat seriously. In Huckabee’s view, the United States is not simply supporting Israel but partnering with it because that partnership also serves American interests.

Commentary: The above article, of which we quote the first two paragraphs as it appeared in Ynet Global, is right to the point. The very clear words of Ambassador Huckabee did not find an echo in the global media.
When asked about the famine and genocide in Gaza, “Huckabee pointed to what he described as progress on the humanitarian front: 600 to 700 trucks carrying humanitarian and medical assistance entering Gaza every day, one million doses of polio vaccine supplied to Gaza, and a population he said had grown by 4% annually. ‘How do you commit genocide when you’re sending 700 trucks of supplies and food in?’ he asked. ‘Israel deserves credit for ensuring that happens. They don’t get the credit. They’re accused of genocide.’”
Israel has the power and the means to commit genocide, but 600-700 trucks carrying humanitarian aid clearly reveals Israel’s intention to act in a humanitarian manner. The other important fact is that Gaza’s population has grown by 4% annually.
Here we must turn to the spiritual aspect, the unseen, the powers under heaven. They have one determined goal, as declared in Psalm 83:4: “They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.”
But, in contrast to their intention, Amos 9:14 declares: “And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.” The last verse gives the clear, unmovable guarantee: “And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God” (v. 15).
