“I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him” (Hosea 14:4).
The prophet Hosea does not mince words. Unashamedly, he reveals Israel’s horrible sins. One trembles when reading words like, “cause to cease the kingdom of the house of Israel” (Hosea 1:4b); “I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel” (v. 6); and in verse 8, “I will not be your God.” Verse 10 adds, “Ye are not my people.”
Before we proceed, we must realize that the prophet Hosea is speaking to the kingdom of Israel—the ten rebellious tribes. When reading the whole book in one sitting, it becomes self-evident that God has rejected Israel, because of their blatant rejection of His Word.
However, in coming to the last chapter, we read the above-quoted words: “I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him.” How are we to understand this seeming contradiction? Answer: the wonderful and indescribable grace of God—redemption-salvation.
Not surprisingly, the word Hosea (in Hebrew “Hoshea”) in simple translation means “salvation.”
When dealing with the subject of Israel in the book of Hosea, we are presented with wide-ranging information, which can only be grasped by reading all of it.
This leads to a warning for our spiritual well-being: Read all of the Scripture of truth.
John opens his Gospel with these three verses: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” That, in summary, is information from the very beginning to this day: “In the beginning was the Word.”
If one desires to know true history—for example, about your country—search all of the diverse opinions and facts.
Now we are entering dangerous territory. Who would like to have everything written down—from their earliest memories of 2-3 years old, to the present time? I venture to say no one! The Bible declares: “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away” (Isaiah 64:6). Please note, it does not say that our trespasses are filthy rags, but our righteousness is as filthy rags.
In the New Testament, the apostle Paul lists a number of atrocities committed by people; in 1 Corinthians 6:11a he states: “And such were some of you.” Then comes the blessed “but”: “but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” Analyzing this juristically, we would conclude it to be a contradiction.
That, incidentally, is what the world at large is doing. Well-educated people—some that could be classified as super-intelligent, including journalists and well-regarded news organizations—are all quite evidently unable to give us a balanced picture of today’s Israel. Especially in our days, we have diverse information from across the world at our fingertips. The internet can lead us in any direction, but most of us choose preconceived ideas.
Here a quotation from the late Air Marshal Sir Robert Saundby: “A study of the ethics of bombing cannot fail to remind one that man is an illogical creature, still far more swayed by emotion than by calm reason. Man has wonderful powers of self-deception, and of the uncritical suppression of unwelcome facts; he is still capable of believing what he wants to believe, in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.”
When it comes to Israel, there is an abundance of factual information available but, lo and behold, the highest esteemed educational institutions globally have made their choice regarding believing falsehoods, even “in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.” In summary, “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple” (Psalm 119:130).
Information-Sharing
An article published by Ynet Global on 27 October 2025 was headlined, “Israeli firm Orca AI launches world’s first real-time data-sharing network for ships.” Below are some excerpts:
Israeli maritime technology firm Orca AI unveiled Co-Captain, a new feature billed as the world’s first “Waze of the Seas,” enabling real-time data sharing between vessels to improve safety, hazard anticipation and navigational confidence.
The launch comes amid a rise in global maritime safety incidents, which increased 42% between 2018 and 2024, reaching 3,310 reported cases [in 2024]. Co-Captain links over 1,000 ships already outfitted with Orca AI’s autonomous navigation platform, transforming each vessel into both a sensor and source of awareness. Hundreds more vessels are expected to join the network, the company said.
By distributing verified, real-time alerts across its expanding fleet, Co-Captain allows vessels to respond more effectively to navigational hazards, adverse weather and security threats. The alerts are enriched with external data, including weather updates, vessel traffic, and local regulatory feeds.
“Given that 90% of international trade is transported across oceans, collaborative navigation at sea is no longer optional—it’s a safety, environmental and security imperative,” said Orca AI CEO and co-founder Yarden Gross. “What we’re building is a living, evolving ecosystem. Each vessel becomes a key link in a safety chain that keeps crews connected and ahead of risk.”
Orca AI, which in 2022 helped complete the world’s first commercial autonomous voyage in partnership with Japan’s DFFAS consortium and The Nippon Foundation, uses artificial intelligence and computer vision to enhance fleet safety and performance. The platform enables real-time, data-driven decision-making for crews in high-risk environments, while offering fleet managers detailed operational insights.
This is all about information, and information is fundamentally essential in the present technological world. Without it, our modern society would collapse.
