HONG KONG - Top Cross-Border Wealth Hub

Hong Kong has overtaken Switzerland as the top global booking center for cross-border wealth, ‌a first that is unlikely to be reversed as hubs in Asia grow faster than the European safe-haven, Boston Consulting Group said.

Wealth from China and an IPO boom in 2025 helped Hong Kong rise to a $2.95 trillion offshore behemoth for the world’s rich.

Hong Kong is cementing its role as China’s gateway to global markets, though that same concentration ties its trajectory tightly to economic and regulatory developments on the mainland.

“Geopolitical uncertainty reaffirms Switzerland’s role as a core global booking center, attracting flight-to-safety flows from more volatile regions such as the Middle East,” BCG said.

Wealthy individuals have been looking to shift assets from the Gulf region to Switzerland in the wake of the ongoing conflict, bankers and financial advisers have told Reuters.

Commentary: Something seemingly strange has happened. When on 1 July 1997, the British administration of Hong Kong ended its 150-year dominion, there was much speculation in the media that Hong Kong would disintegrate. Quite obviously, not so. In this case, they even overtook the securest and freest land in the world, Switzerland.

What significance does this hold for us Bible believers? Same as we often repeat: The world must function on egalitarian principles, and that is quite visibly demonstrated by communist China now being the world’s largest economy by far, as measured by GDP purchasing power parity (PPP).

That opens another door to world unity, world peace, and world prosperity. But this fact reminds us of the church in Laodicea: “…I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing” (Revelation 3:17a). Thereafter, however, comes judgment.

Jesus references the times of Noah, when there was peace and prosperity: “For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark” (Matthew 24:38).
