GERMANY - Testing Israeli Drone Sub

ree

The German Navy recently concluded a two-week evaluation of the BlueWhale autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV), a cutting-edge system developed by the state-owned Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). The evaluation was conducted in the Baltic Sea by a 5.5-ton submarine equipped with a telescopic mast with radar and electro-optic systems. The AUV can perform complex tasks for several weeks, identify sea and land targets, and transmit data to command posts worldwide.

The German Navy partnered with IAI and ATLAS Elektronik for the trials, and the NATO Center of Excellence for Operations supported the integration of the BlueWhale into the German Navy’s framework.

The test comes after undersea internet cables in the Baltic Sea were physically cut, an act suspected of Russia-led sabotage.

IAI President and CEO Boaz Levy shared in a press release that “in addition to its intelligence-gathering capabilities, the BlueWhale system excels in detecting other submarines and covertly mapping mines on the seabed, using its advanced sonar systems, and is an important part of IAI’s range of maritime solutions…”

Commentary: Europe, the most peaceful and secure continent, has been rattled by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on 21 February 2022. The article from TheMediaLine.org, of which we publish excerpts, could be titled, “Israel to the Rescue.”

Why Israel? Because that small, Jewish nation has been involved in war or war-like preparations for its entire 77 years of modern existence.

In practical terms, Israel is the only technologically advanced nation that can provide practical, workable defense weaponry, and Europe is becoming its biggest customer.

DefenseNews.com reports: “The three largest Israeli defense companies are Israel Aerospace Industries, Elbit Systems and Rafael. The companies reported record results for 2024 alongside record order backlogs, which stood at $25 billion, $22.6 billion and $17.7 billion, respectively.”

Israel’s enemies have repeatedly publicly declared their intention to destroy the Jewish State. Yet, as the above article shows, Israel is being significantly strengthened due to the threats of war by enemies.

Here we are reminded of Nehemiah 13:2: “Because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, that he should curse them: howbeit our God turned the curse into a blessing.”
