As covered by The Jerusalem Post last July, Canadian citizen Philip Khazzam sued the French government for more than $17 million in unpaid rent relating to his family’s property in Baghdad, which has served as the French embassy in Iraq since the 1960s.
Khazzam’s grandfather, Ezra Lawee, and Ezra’s brother Khedouri built the house and lived there with their children before they were forced out of their home and fled the country. The family relocated to Canada, where they acquired citizenship in 1967.
However, the Paris Administrative Court ruled that the dispute does not fall under its administration since the occupancy lease is not governed by French law.
The court said that it only has jurisdiction to rule on a dispute relating to the performance of a contract if that contract is governed by French law. Having established that the dispute did not occur on French territory, it concluded that the state could not engage with the case.
Khazzam criticized the “absurdity of telling us to seek justice in Iraq [and not France], the very place that forced 130,000 Jews to flee, so they could then steal our homes!”

Commentary: Mr. Khazzam added, “we’re just getting started.” Very little is being published about the mass expulsion of 130,000 Jews from Iraq. That, incidentally, can also be called “ethnic cleansing.”
Of interest is the fact that ancient Babylon is located approximately 50-60 miles south of Baghdad. Thus, the question arises: will Babylon be rebuilt? This writer has insisted that it will not. Why? When reading of Babylon in the New Testament, particularly the book of Revelation, it reveals the horrible end-time scenario. For example, in Revelation 11:8 we read: “And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.”
Why were these two prophets killed? Verse 10b answers: “because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.” What kind of torment is this? Very simply, one word—truth. Here we have the identity of the two witnesses; Jesus stated, “for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem” (Luke 13:33b). Elijah was raptured into heaven on the other side of Jordan. Moses also died outside the Promised Land.
