BRAZIL - Building an Open World Economy

The Chinese premier spoke on topics including strengthening multilateralism, artificial intelligence, environment and climate change, and global health at the plenary sessions. Leaders from BRICS members and partner countries, guest countries, as well as representatives of international organizations, attended the sessions.

He called on all parties to stay committed to enhancing the level of international financial cooperation, expressing support for the expansion and strengthening of the New Development Bank and welcoming qualified Global South countries to invest in China’s financial market.

He called on the international community to strengthen global synergy in tackling climate change, resolutely implement the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement, uphold the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities, and deepen cooperation in clean energy, carbon markets and other fields.

Commentary: The five letters BRICS stand for Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. They are aiming to establish a more solid group of nations as an alternative to the West, led by the USA.

One item not mentioned is that this new group of emerging economic powers also plans to replace the US dollar as the leading foreign currency. In the meantime, in 2024, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates were invited to join as new members. Indonesia was added in January of 2025.

With communist China as the apparent leader, the future looks very promising, keeping in mind that China already dominates over 30% of the world’s manufacturing output.

As Christians, we cannot help but see this development as a shadow mimicking the true unity of the Church, being one body.

Regardless of who we are, where we live, or what nationality we are, we the Church will one day be raptured into the presence of the Lord. From that time on, darkness will prevail on planet earth. Then will be fulfilled what is written in Revelation 13:3b: “and all the world wondered after the beast.”
