[A] Taliban leader banned fiber optic internet in an Afghan province to “prevent immorality,” a spokesman for the administration said.
It’s the first time a ban of this kind has been imposed since the Taliban seized power in August 2021, and leaves government offices, the private sector, public institutions, and homes in northern Balkh province without Wi-Fi internet.
“This measure was taken to prevent immorality, and an alternative will be built within the country for necessities,” [a provincial government spokesman] told The Associated Press.
“Blocking the internet is beyond my comprehension in such an advanced era,” said [a] resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of Taliban reprisals.
“If this ban continues, it will not only be detrimental to my business but also to others because all our business is done on the internet,” said the resident. “We do business with people in the outside world and maintain relationships through it.”

Commentary: When religion takes over politics, chaos follows. A Google search reveals:
“Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire in 380 AD with Emperor Theodosius I’s Edict of Thessalonica, which endorsed Nicene Christianity as the state religion and banned other forms of worship.”
Next followed the Dark Ages in Europe. Wikipedia states: “The Dark Ages is a term for the Early Middle Ages (c. 5th–10th centuries), or occasionally the entire Middle Ages (c. 5th–15th centuries), in Western Europe after the fall of the Western Roman Empire, which characterizes it as marked by economic, intellectual, and cultural decline.” We can take these historical facts as a guarantee of the coming dark age for Afghanistan and its neighbor to the west, Iran.
A significant number of intellectuals are warning Israel not to permit religion to take the upper hand. However, here we must mention that Israel is different from all nations on planet earth. They are called by God for a certain purpose: to be a light unto the Gentiles. Their geographic territory is plainly marked from the River of Egypt to the Euphrates.
It is of interest that a number of well-meaning and respectable Christian organizations are attempting to Christianize the USA, with the repeated slogan, “America is a Christian nation.” In reality, not so. Why not? Because the Bible makes no provision and does not endorse the establishment of a political-religious state anywhere.
We are the little flock, the despised and rejected … and in many places, severely persecuted. That is the real Church. We must never permit the Church to be mixed up with the organized, subsidized religious movement of churchianity.
