Middle East Conflict

“And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice” (Genesis 22:18).
God declares this to Abraham, who demonstrated obedience by offering his only beloved son Isaac. It is of great importance to emphasize, “in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed.” As God says, this is not limited to the Israeli people but extends to “all the nations of the earth.”
Previously, when Abraham pleaded for Sodom and Gomorrah, Genesis 18:18b reads: “and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him.”
To his son Isaac, God repeated: “And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed” (Genesis 26:4).
That promise was also declared to Jacob, Abraham’s grandson: “and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed” (Genesis 28:14b).
Middle East Conflict
The threefold blessing of the God of Israel, the Creator of heaven and earth, is the real reason for the Middle East conflict. Under no circumstances will Satan allow these promises to become true. Thus, the illogical and fanatical opposition to Israel taking possession of the Promised Land. Here we must repeat Genesis 15:18b: “Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates.” The Tanakh reads: “To your offspring I assign this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates.”
Two-State Land
The offer of partition was presented to the Palestinian Arabs as well as to the Jews. The Jews said yes, the Arabs said no. To a certain degree, one may sympathize with the Palestinian Arabs, who in some places lived for many centuries in the land called Palestine by the British. Yet during the last nearly eight decades, they have always said no to any offer from Israel’s side.
One should take this into consideration when analyzing these events. But we must add here that the only guideline in our analysis is the Word of God, not political considerations. According to Wikipedia, of the 193 countries recognized by the United Nations, 143 recognize the State of Palestine as of March 2025.
Quite apparently, history has not affected their decision, nor have they learned anything. Historically, international law declared that to the victor belong the spoils.
Loss of Territory
Take Hungary, for example. They lost three quarters of their pre-war territory and two-thirds of their pre-war population to neighboring states. Germany lost about 13% of its territory in Europe, and 100% of its Pacific and African territories as well. That was due to the implementation of international law. One fails to detect significant opposition or terrorist organizations demanding their national territory to be reinstated.
When it comes to Israel, it’s another story. Why? Because the nations are not fighting against Israel, but against the Word of God. As a matter of fact, Israel now has diplomatic relations with more countries than ever. But when it comes to the division of the land and hindering the fulfillment of God’s promises, the overwhelming majority of nations do the bidding of the god of this world.
When one carefully reads Joel 3:2: “I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land,” we notice the words “all nations” and “parted my land.”
Progressive Fulfillment
When reading the oldest document about Israel, the Bible, we see how God allows Himself much time. He is not in a hurry. Here an example: When the serpent had deceived Eve and Adam, God pronounced a curse upon the serpent: “upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life” (Genesis 3:14b). We all know that the serpent continues to eat mice, fish, frogs, and even larger animals. But that will cease some 7,000 years later. The prophet Isaiah proclaims: “and dust shall be the serpent’s meat” (Isaiah 65:25).
We do well to take note of Holy Scripture, shutting off our eyes and ears to the so-called geopolitical realities of today. God’s time is not our time. He will fulfill His Word in His time and in His ways.
Action for Israel
Our support for Israel is strictly based on Holy Scripture, and that gives us reason to give and to pray. Just reading the Gospel of Matthew, we find the word “fulfill” 16 times. What was fulfilled? What the prophets declared in the Old Testament. Right in the first chapter, we read: “Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying” (verse 22). What did the prophet say? “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14b).
Herod became a mass murderer of children after Jesus was born. Matthew 2:15 declares: “And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.”
Returning from Egypt, Joseph, Mary, and the Child went to Nazareth. Verse 23 declares: “And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.”
Romans 8:29 states: “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Let us also read the next two verses: “Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” Pray for Israel, pray for the fullness of the Gentiles, and pray for abundant grace.
