JORDAN - Antisemitic and Anti-Zionist Textbooks

Jordanian textbooks used for the 2025-2026 school year contain antisemitic and anti-Israel themes, according to a report by international research and policy institute IMPACT-se.

As an example, a Jordanian history textbook claimed that Jews attempted to destroy Germany’s economy during World War I and that Western support for the Balfour Declaration stemmed from “Jewish financial and political influence over the British Treasury and the US government.”

A textbook for 9th-grade students described “treachery and violation of agreements” as natural Jewish traits, asking students to ponder why Jews wish to “annihilate” Muslims.

Regarding Israel, the textbooks reference the peace treaty between the two countries as a “reluctant” effort to stop “Israeli expansionist ambitions and recover stolen land,” with maps frequently labeling Israel as “Palestine.”

Commentary: The treaty that was signed between the two states reads in part, “The treaty also settled land and water disputes, providing for broad cooperation in tourism and trade.” Quite obviously, Jordan has not fully kept the treaty they signed in October of 1994.

Blatant hatred of Jews is taught in schools from an early age to the highest academic institutions.

In Numbers 32:33, we read: “And Moses gave unto them, even to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and unto half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, with the cities thereof in the coasts, even the cities of the country round about.” This statement was made before Israel crossed the Jordan to take possession of the Promised Land.

Talking about “stolen land,” much of today’s Jordan—from the River Arnon flowing into the Dead Sea, up to the Golan—is Jordanian-occupied Israeli territory.

One must realize the tremendous difference between Israel and Jordan when it comes to prosperity and economy. Israel’s per-capita GDP (PPP) is listed as $59,095, while Jordan’s is $13,110. Life expectancy in Israel is 82.9 years, while in Jordan it is 78.3 years. Jordan would greatly benefit by improving relations with Israel. That is a given, but apparently, hatred is more important in this case.
