“Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, The vision that he seeth is for many days to come, and he prophesieth of the times that are far off. Therefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; There shall none of my words be prolonged any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord GOD” (Ezekiel 12:27-28).
It is well-documented that the Jews prayed for over 2,000 years, “next year in Jerusalem.” They waited, waited, and waited. Each generation was replaced by the next one … until the Six-Day War of June 1967, when the announcement was made by Jewish forces, “Jerusalem is ours!” The moment Jews had waited for had finally come.
When we speak of the Creator, He is not limited by our understanding of time. For example, we read in Genesis 3:14: “And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life.” That statement was made over 6,000 years ago, but as we all know, snakes continued to eat everything but “dust.”
The prophet Isaiah speaks of the coming Millennium—the thousand-year Kingdom of Peace—and declares: “The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD” (Isaiah 65:25).
This is quite significant for us believers: The Church has been waiting nearly 2,000 years for the fulfillment of the angel’s message we read of in Acts 1:11: “Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” What we do know for certain is that prophecy will be fulfilled. The apostle Peter admonishes us: “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).
Jews Returning to the Land of Their Fathers
While the New Testament does not directly mention the return of the Jews to Israel, the Jews have to be in Israel to fulfill, for example, Matthew 24:30: “And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”
But How?
As of 2021, Israel had formal diplomatic relations with 168 countries. Yet after 7 October 2023, antisemitism and anti-Zionism have exploded the world over. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has published some alarming figures, naming five of the most antisemitic nations: 1) West Bank and Gaza 93%, 2) Iraq 92%, 3) Yemen 88%, 4) Algeria 87%, and 5) Tunisia 86%, as quoted by the Times of Israel.
The research covering 101 countries notes that the Middle East and North Africa have a staggering 74% of respondents harboring antisemitic views.
Wikipedia states that there are an estimated 15.8 million Jews globally, of which 7.2 million reside in Israel, followed by the US with approximately 6.3 million.
Jeremiah 16 speaks of the return of the Jews to the land of their fathers; verse 16 reads: “Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the LORD, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.” Jeremiah 23:8 confirms: “But, The LORD liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land.”
Pray for Israel.
