ISRAEL - Tel Aviv No. 4 in Global Startup Rankings

ree

Tel Aviv has claimed the fourth spot in the 2025 Global Startup Ecosystem Report, released in Paris by Startup Genome and the Global Entrepreneurship Network. The annual report, unveiled at the VivaTech conference in Paris, draws on data from more than 5 million companies across 350 innovation hubs worldwide, making it one of the most comprehensive analyses of the global startup economy.

The report ranks Tel Aviv as a top 10 global ecosystem in knowledge, funding, and talent. Life sciences in the city saw a 25% growth, reaching $2.7 billion, while major international tech firms including Nvidia, Meta, and Alphabet expanded their local presence.

Tel Aviv’s appeal is also bolstered by over 180 multinational research and development centers, targeted tax incentives, and a planned $800 million innovation lab aimed at encouraging foreign investment.

“There’s no question in my mind Israel has the highest quality entrepreneurs in the world, full stop,” said Jeff Horing, co-founder and managing director of Insight Partners.

Commentary: Tel Aviv is located on Israel’s Mediterranean coast; it was founded in 1909, with no visible manifestation except the nearby ancient city of Joppa. Today, it has become a giant with skyscrapers lining the coast and superhighways connecting to Jerusalem, Haifa, and the south. In this relatively short time, Tel Aviv is making a name for itself when it comes to technology. The beginning? “Before it was known as Tel Aviv, the area was called Ahuzat Bayit, which means ‘Homestead’ or ‘House Estate.’ It was established as a Jewish neighborhood by 60 families in 1909. In 1910, the name was changed to Tel Aviv, derived from a biblical name and Theodor Herzl’s novel, according to Jewish Virtual Library.”

The statement by Jeff Horing is quite revealing: “Israel has the highest quality entrepreneurs in the world.”

In the Bible, we notice that the territory was allotted to the tribe of Dan, according to Joshua 19:46: “And Mejarkon, and Rakkon, with the border before Japho.” But the next verse reads: “And the coast of the children of Dan went out too little for them.” They did not accept their inheritance.

Chosen People Ministries notes: “Interestingly, it is the very last city listed in the distribution of the tribes’ territory.”
