ISRAEL - Nearly 80% of Gazans Open to Emigration

Nearly 80% of Gazans are interested in emigrating from the Gaza Strip, according to a recent survey the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) shared with senior Israeli officials.

Since the war began following the October 7 massacre, more than 44,000 Gazans—including medical patients and individuals holding visas for third countries—have exited the Strip through the Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings.

Commentary: According to AI Overview, “The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) is an official Israeli Ministry of Defense unit that implements civilian policy and coordinates humanitarian and infrastructure operations in the Palestinian territories, primarily the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.” Their survey reveals that the people of Gaza have had enough of Hamas. Quora user Adrian Kaye writes, answering the question, “How was Gaza like before Israel withdrawal in 2005?”:

“It was a lot better than today. Israeli companies had set up businesses growing flowers in giant greenhouses giving employment to thousands of people. The border was freely open and locals went shopping in Israel while Israelis went to Gaza to buy stuff and visit local restaurants etc. There were many good friendships between Gazans and Israeli and a good deal of socializing. There was relative peace for the residents and life was relatively good and normal. When Israel left, a lot of the factories etc. were left and a Jewish benefactor paid millions to have the greenhouses left there so the Gazans would have work and viable businesses to use to build their state. These businesses were razed to the ground within days, sadly, and all was lost.”

That is what hatred does: “businesses were razed to the ground within days.” Unbridled hate fueled by religion is the fuel that continues to stoke the flames of antisemitism, now in many parts of the world.

Here again, it is our understanding that “From the river to the sea, make Palestine free” can only be realized when Jewish Palestinians take control of all of so-called Palestine.

In old documents, we notice that during the British Mandate times, Arabs who had a passport issued virtually always listed their nationality as “Arab.” Jewish Palestinians, however, gladly accepted “Jewish Palestinian.” Golda Meir famously made the statement, “I am a Palestinian; from 1921 to 1948, I carried a Palestinian passport.” And, if I’m not mistaken, her original passport is exhibited in a museum in Israel.

We may ask, why did they destroy Israeli-established businesses in Gaza? The plain answer is, they are just occupants; only the owners can make lasting renovation, establishing peace and prosperity.
