IRELAND - Rejects Israeli-Made Landing System

Ireland’s new government jet, which cost the republic €53m., was purchased without FalconEye, a technology co-developed by Dassault Falcon and Israeli defense giant Elbit Systems, that is essential for the aircraft to land in foggy weather, local media reported.

According to Dassault Falcon’s official website, it is “an advanced combined vision system (CVS) developed by Dassault Aviation in partnership with Elbit Systems. Designed for executive and military jets, it merges enhanced real-world video (EVS) with database-driven synthetic terrain mapping (SVS) to provide pilots with unprecedented situational awareness in zero-visibility conditions like fog, snow, or darkness.”

Taoiseach Micheal Martin, in 2024 when serving as foreign minister, said that Ireland would not purchase equipment that features Israeli-made products, Irish media cited.

Despite this, The Journal found that four helicopters belonging to the IAC were delivered with flight systems co-developed by Elbit and Airbus, as “the craft cannot be built without them.”

Commentary: While Ireland granted de facto recognition of Israel in 1949, de jure followed in 1963, with a full diplomatic relationship in 1975.

Before 1948, the territory of Palestine was called British “Mandatory Palestine” (1920-1948). Prior to those years, it was occupied by the Ottoman Empire. Way back in Roman times, it was called “Syria Palaestina.”

Before the declaration of the State of Israel, the British issued passports designating one’s nationality as “Arab Palestinian” or “Jewish Palestinian.”

The Arab Palestinians outright rejected the creation of a Jewish Palestine.

On 29 November 1945, the United Nations Partition Plan was passed, allotting 55% of the land to a Jewish state and 45% to an Arab state. But Arab Palestinians, with the support of the Arab League, condemned the plan and answered with weapons of war. Their declared intention was the eradication of the Jewish people in Jewish Palestine.

What is often conveniently overlooked in the “recognition of a Palestinian state” is simply: no room for Jews. “Make Palestine free, from the River to the Sea” is the slogan, and in actual fact, this is true: When all of Palestine becomes Jewish territory, it will indeed be free. But that is what those nations recognizing the non-existent state of Palestine simply do not understand.

Here, it is appropriate to cite Psalm 83:1-4: “Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.”
