GERMANY - Process to Recognize a Palestinian State

ree

Germany’s Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said the recognition of a Palestinian state comes more at the end of the negotiations for a two-state solution, but that process must begin now, warning Berlin would respond to “unilateral steps.”

Johann Wadephul issued the statement before heading off to Israel and the Palestinian territories on a trip Berlin has billed as a fact-finding mission amid heightened alarm over starvation in Gaza.

His remarks marked Germany’s strongest warning yet to Israel as Western nations intensify efforts to exert pressure. Britain, Canada and France have all signaled their readiness to recognize a Palestinian state in Israeli-occupied territory at the United Nations General Assembly this September.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz has long been pro-Israel. In February, he said he would find a way for Netanyahu to visit Germany without being arrested under a warrant by the International Criminal Court.

But The tone has shifted in Berlin, in tandem with a shift in public opinion, with a poll released on June 4 showing 63% of Germans saying Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has gone too far.

Commentary: Politicians the world over should be well-informed of the reality and facts on the ground. The irreversible damage that has been done to the Palestinian Arabs for almost eight decades can be summed up with the few poisonous words: “Kill Jews; destroy Israel.” There is no way their minds will change by simply drawing borders in the heart of the land of Israel and assuming it would be a functioning, civilized, democratic state.

Increasingly, leaders of various European states, not to mention the Islamic world, actually believe that their theoretical assumption can be implemented in real life.

Here we again repeat: The Middle East conflict is due to the fact that much of Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and small parts of Egypt are Arab-occupied Israeli territory.

It is interesting how the demons of this world turn the facts around, causing these leaders to believe in literal fairy tales.
