China’s ruling Communist Party said it will focus on speeding up self-reliance in science and technology, a long-running push that has become more pronounced as the U.S. has imposed increasingly tight controls on access to semiconductors and other high-tech items.
The communique contained few surprises, largely echoing the policy direction set out by Chinese leader Xi Jinping, who wants to build China into a tech leader and global power with a robust military able to command respect and exert international influence. It provided only a broad overview of the coming 2026-2030 five-year plan, indicating its scope without details.
Beijing said it is still on a “solid foundation” to achieve its full-year official growth target of around 5%, after China’s economy grew 4.8% in the July to September quarter.

Commentary: It is definitely not fashionable to say or write something positive about communist China these days, yet it is our duty to point out the global tendency of world unity.
Going back to 1970, China’s GDP was a measly $92.6 billion, compared to the US’s $1.09 trillion. At that time, China wasn’t even worth mentioning in any important global statistics.
Quite apparently, that is no longer the case. The question is, will China be the number one economic powerhouse? We think it is only a matter of time.
We can go back to the Tower of Babel. They built a fantastic economy; Genesis 11:4 reveals: “And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.” That represented global unity, although limited to a rather small geographic area.
Google writes about the location, “in the plain of Shinar, which is believed to be the ancient Mesopotamia likely near the city of Babylon.” That’s the beginning; now let’s go to the end. Revelation 18:2 declares: “And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.”
That is the spirit of Antichrist. Babylon is not limited to the Middle East, but now has become global. Verse 3 declares: “For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.” We note the word “merchants.” Merchandise is king today, and the world leader of merchandise is communist China. They all belong to global “Babylon”: “And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate” (verse 19).
