A Look Back at the 2025 Israel Conference
This year, Midnight Call’s Israel conference took place in Rehe, Germany from March 9-13. The main theme was “Israel’s Dilemma.”
Roughly 120 participants from all over Germany were registered for the conference. Hartmut Jaeger led the event. Music was provided by Govert Roos (vocals and piano) and Michael Schuler (clarinet). The conference was also guided by the motto, “Let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice!” (Psalm 105:3b).
One of the three keynote speakers was Norbert Lieth, author of numerous books. The main topic of his talks was “The King of the Ages: A Journey Through God’s Word.” The survey began with Revelation 19:6, which states that God has assumed His kingly reign. Jesus will come and show the world how to rule justly.
Hartmut Jaeger, longtime managing director of a Christian publisher, as well as editor and author of several books, continued the series of talks. His “Fearless in Chaos” presentation examined Isaiah, the evangelist of the prophets. God spoke, and is still speaking today, and yet most people refuse to listen. It’s been said that man will believe anything, as long as it’s not in the Bible.
Hartmut Jaeger’s other talk, on Revelation 22:10-17, was entitled “En Route to a Glorious Future.” There are three crucial milestones: Creation, Redemption, and Consummation. The scarlet thread that runs through Scripture is our Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible is reliable, timeless, and accurate. On our journey to consummation, it’s crucial that we avoid looking and living backwards, for the goal lies ahead (Heb 12:1-2).
Nathanael Winkler, who was born and raised in Israel, was another speaker. He is fluent in Hebrew. In two talks, he shared up-to-date information from Israel. The small nation has always had to defend itself against its enemies, and continues to do so. But God is standing by His people. It can currently be said that Israel is back as a nation because God willed it so. The fight against Israel is a spiritual one. It is, and will be, a bitter fight for many people, but it’s also one that Israel’s (and thus God’s) enemies cannot win.
In his concluding talk, Nathanael spoke on Messianic Jews. This term has been around since the 19th century. About 40 years ago, there were about 300 Israeli Jews who believed in Jesus. Today, there are about 30-40,000 people who believe in Yeshua, and their number continues to grow. The Holy Spirit spoke to Israel’s fathers through Isaiah: “You will indeed hear but never understand, and you will indeed see but never perceive” (Acts 28:26). Israel’s hearts were, and still are, hardened. But the people will turn.
After the Bar Kochba Rebellion against the Roman Empire, Judaism developed in two directions:
• Messianic Jews believe in Jesus Christ
• Rabbinic Jews follow Orthodox Judaism
In summary, we can say that the gospel is returning to the Jewish people. When we consider the Church and present-day Judaism, the question arises: Is there even a Church without the Jews? But Zechariah 12:10 addresses this, as does Zechariah 2:12 in speaking of the apple of God’s eye. Israel will mourn over the one they pierced, and God will pour out a spirit of grace and supplication upon them. He will lead His people back to their land. After the conference, the participants were in agreement that the sessions were truly blessed by God. They inspired and moved many. A great number are already looking forward to next year’s Israel conference, Midnight Call International’s tenth, assuming our Lord has not returned by then. Maranatha!
