Europe Rises Against Islam

The population of Germany’s Saar province decides whether or not the Muslim community of the province can build a minaret near the mosque in the town of Volklingen. It is not ruled out that the question will be solved at a referendum since opinions are different.
The story started in January when the Muslim community of the town addressed to the municipal administration with a request to build a minaret near the mosque. The story bore a striking resemblance to what happened in Switzerland last year.
The town of Volklingen with its 40,000-strong population is a special place on the map of the country. Muslims, presumably the Turks, make a third of the town’s population. The mosque was built there a long time ago, but it raises concerns with many people.
Rightist organizations of Germany share the views of Switzerland’s ultra-right activists, who believe that minaret symbolizes the Muslim aspiration to power.
An opinion poll conducted among the local population showed that the adversaries of minarets outnumber their supporters. Thus, it is not ruled out that a small town in Germany’s Saar will become the first place on the map of the European Union where the construction of such religious objects is officially prohibited (Switzerland is not a member of the European Union).
The story in Saar may echo in other regions of Germany. The Muslim population of Germany makes up over 4 million people; Turks make two-thirds of the number. Arabs, Kurds, Muslim Bosnians and Albanians have large communities in the country. Nearly all of them have adjusted themselves to the German society. At least a quarter of them said that they did not attend mosques. Hundreds of thousands continue to follow Shariah laws, though.
The number of Muslim buildings in Germany has been growing steadily. There were only three mosques in the FRG in 1970. Nowadays, the number of mosques and prayer halls makes up nearly 2,500. Kreutzberg, a district of Berlin, is known as “Little Istanbul” because it looks like an Oriental city. Other large cities, such as Hamburg, Munich, Cologne and Frankfurt-am-Main have a similar situation.
There are several dozens of Muslims organizations in Germany. Most of them are loyal with the nation’s authorities. There are radical Muslims too, of course, but the German police persistently claim that the majority of immigrants from Muslim states are law-abiding citizens. Indeed, many Turks own café shops and little grocery stores. The Turkish language can very often be heard on constructions spots in Germany. Turkish women, just like Bosnian Muslims and Albanian females, do not wear any head scarves—they live, study and work like German women.
Nevertheless, Germany is concerned about the propagation of Islam in the country.
In 2003, the Constitution Court of Germany allowed the laws to prohibit the wearing of hijab scarves in public places. As a result, female students were not allowed to display any religious symbols at schools.
The decision sparked protests in many German provinces. Muslim organizations filed countless lawsuits. Several German politicians called upon the national prohibition of hijab. Leila Akgun, a social democrat of Turkish origin, once said that hijab was “the prison that threatened human rights.”

There is much sensationalism published within the Christian media regarding Muslims; thus, we must watch this development and consider aspects often overlooked. Germany and other European nations were in dire need of laborers who could do manual jobs. That was in the 1960-80s. Of the families who came, many have stayed. Now they have children and grandchildren born in the country, and many are citizens. Just as blacks in America, who fought for human rights and attained them, so we believe the Muslims in Europe will obtain the right to practice their religion, including the building of mosques.
We must also consider that the European nations as colonial powers, mainly Britain, France and Spain, went all over the world conquering territory and forcing their law upon the people. These colonial powers dictated their culture and custom. They proclaimed that the European system would bring peace, prosperity, and security to the natives. Now these “natives” use the message proclaimed by the Europeans in Europe to assert their rights.
Most importantly is the question, will Europe be Islamized? To that question, we give an affirmative no! The greatest danger for the world, according to Holy Scripture, is the Antichrist, meaning Churchianity. When analyzing the nations of the world, one quickly finds that most nations strongly influenced by historical Christianity (not true Bible-believing Christianity) are the powerhouses of the world. Therefore, we can be assured that Churchianity will survive in Europe and the rest of the world. Europe is quite capable of implementing unity in diversity, and therefore well able to accommodate the so-called “Muslim invasion of Europe.”
There is another important point that needs to be carefully considered: Europe and the European world has largely failed in evangelizing the Muslim countries in particularly. Now the Muslims are coming to their shores, and from reliable reports, many Muslims are hearing about the gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ and are becoming believers. Instead of fanning the flames of anti-immigration, particularly anti-Muslim, allow for the possibility that God in His grace sends these people to your countries for the purpose of hearing that salvation is available only through Jesus Christ.
In the United States, there is much fanatical hate being stirred against immigrants from the south. Who are they? In most cases, they are descendants of Indians, the original inhabitants of this continent. Again, the question needs to be asked, “Is our Lord God in His grace sending these people to our shores to hear the precious Gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord, because we were too lazy to go out as missionaries to those countries?”
In summary, the Muslim invasion in Europe and the southern invasion in North America need to be viewed as a wonderful opportunity of the Church of Jesus Christ to be living testimonies of the accomplished work of Jesus Christ our Lord. May He in His grace use many of us to be lights to those who are in darkness, so the last from among the Gentiles may be added to the Church and unitedly we may pray, “Maranatha, come soon, Lord Jesus!”
