Since Jesus Christ is the “Head” of the Body of Christ, all those spiritually born of His Spirit make up the Body, Ephesians 2:20. Jesus Christ is the Chief Cornerstone of the spiritual Temple being built and added to daily, in heaven, which consists of born-again believers. We are the “living stones,” 1 Peter 2:5, upon which the foundation is the twelve apostles. Why, according to the KJV translation, are we looking forward to “mansions” in heaven, as though you will have yours and I will have my own, and we may/may not live next door to one another? There is much confusion about John 14:1-4; please amplify and help with understanding.

Answer: 2 Corinthians 5:1 reads, “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” This fact immediately demolishes all of our imaginations of heaven including “mansions.” A clearer translation would be “dwelling place.” Do not attempt any comparison between heaven, and our present existence. Marriage, family and possessions will not continue. The Bible says, “Behold, I make all things new.” When Jesus says He goes to prepare a place for us, we should read 1 Corinthians 2:9, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
