Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the Lord speak righteousness, I declare things that are right” (Isaiah 45:19).
“Seek ye me”! This is a repeated command of the Lord. If God demands that we seek Him, then it must be possible to find Him. How can we find Him? Our Lord names the only condition for finding Him in Jeremiah 29:13-14, “Ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the Lord.” There is no point in praying or holding prayer meetings if we do not do it with all our hearts. In Jeremiah 48:10, the Lord says, “Cursed be he who doeth the Lord’s work negligently” (Luther). Prayer is a wonderful thing but also dangerous, for if we do not seek the Lord with all our hearts, it is all in vain. We only receive precise directions and the necessary clarity in the presence of the Lord when we seek Him sincerely, “with all our hearts.”
