GREECE - India’s Role in Global Partnership

Arno Froese

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis asked India to play a leading role in building international partnerships to meet the unprecedented challenges brought by the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East and changes in climate and energy security.

“We view India as one of the main pillars of stability and security in the Indo-Pacific region,” Mitsotakis said after his talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

India, he said, should be a cornerstone of Europe’s foreign policy. “This is certainly true for my country,” he added.

“None of us can afford to sit on the sidelines. I am convinced that India has an important role to play. It has a voice that should be heard,” he said.

India, which enjoys close ties with Russia, has avoided condemning Moscow for its invasion of Ukraine.

Arno's Commentary

India is or is on its way to being the world’s most populous country, with approximately 1.4 billion people. According to the International Monetary Fund’s “World Economic Outlook,” India’s economy is likely to grow at 6.5% annually beginning this year. However, life expectancy stands at 67.7 years, and per capita GDP only $6,600. These figures are dramatically lower than most Western countries. Yet when looking at the economic growth pattern of India in the last two decades, it is only a matter of time before they replace Japan and Germany as the third biggest economy, after the USA and China.

Here is what a Google search reveals about biblical India: “1 Kings 9:26–27 discusses the navy of King Solomon sailing to Ophir (‘Sopheir’ and ‘Sophara’ in the LXX), with the word Sophir meaning India in Coptic; as gold was plentiful in India, ‘it is generally accepted that Ophir was a port in India.’”

What we know from recent history is that large economies will automatically become a significant voice in world politics.

Just like any other nation on planet earth, all will become one to worship the image of the beast.
