This is the
most important question anyone will ever ask. All the knowledge in the world
cannot surpass him who can say, I have the peace of God in my heart. The Lord
Jesus said: Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world
giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be
afraid (John 14:27). This is extremely significant because Jesus
differentiates between the peace of the world and the peace that only comes
from Him. Why can He give peace that is better than all others? Because He paid
the price for eternal peace when he sacrificed Himself on Calvary's cross for
our sins: Peace is not only the absence of war or conflict, but real peace is
having the knowledge that our sins have been forgiven, giving us peace with
God. When we ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness, we receive this peace of which
the Apostle Paul wrote: And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
