Midnight Call's first missionary printing plant was established in the city of Porto Alegre, Brazil. Most of our Portuguese and Spanish literature is printed there.

The above Scripture served as a guideline for Midnight Call Ministries founder, Dr. Wim Malgo. To the question, “How does He send His Word?” Wim Malgo recognized it was to be done by any means available. The proclamation of the Gospel was not to be limited to conferences and crusades, but was also to be spread via literature and radio, which were seen as essential right from the beginning.

Literature in particular was a burden to him, and it is still to all of us today. Publishing literature was not limited to tracts, booklets and books, but developed from a newsletter into a magazine. Today, Midnight Call magazine is published in 12 languages and read in over 144 countries. Although we have no record of just how many pages of Gospel-related literature we have published and distributed over the years, our strongest ministry arm is, without a doubt, literature. Just as in the beginning, we continue to send forth the precious Word of God each month. We consider our work to be His work, because we proclaim His Word; thus, we will continue, even increase, in the work of the Lord during these endtimes: “He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: his word runneth very swiftly” (Psalm 147:15).

Missionary Printing Plant Extension Dedicated

Midnight Call’s first missionary printing plant was established in the city of Porto Alegre, Brazil. Most of our Portuguese and Spanish literature is printed there. The increased volume of work in a relatively small space has been a cause for concern for quite some time. After years of prayer and planning, a new building was added to the existing one. This beautiful and spacious building now awaits the purchase and installation of a (used) twocolor Heidelberg Press.

We arrived in Porto Alegre after our annual prophecy conference in Poços de Caldas to dedicate this new facility. Jonathan Malgo wrote the following report:

This is an important day for the work in South America and another milestone in the continuous g rowth and development of Midnight Call Ministries. I am privilegedto be here amongst you today.

The year 2007 is the 52nd year since the founding of Midnight Call Ministries. With the dedication of this expanded missionary printing plant here in Porto Alegre, it will doubtless be a day remembered in our mission’s history.

It was in 1955 when my father Wim Malgo took the first step to the founding of this ministry. His great burden was the message centered on Jesus, the cross today and His return . The message “Jesus is coming again” should be proclaimed far and wide over the radio during evangelistic meetings throughout Europe, and should be published particularly through the printed page. Way back then, I was told the vision for a missionary pri nting plant already existed. Twenty - three years later, in 1978, the first press was installed here in Porto Alegre. One of our missionaries, Erich Maag, who now serves in Uruguay, was our first press operator.

It is quite amazing to realize that besides our printing plant in Porto Alegre, we also have one in Sao Paulo and another one in Buenos Aires, Argentina . Then there is a large missionary printing plant in South Carolina, USA, where virtually all English literature is being produced. A few years ago, a pri nting plant was established in Budapest, Hungary. But it is needful to emphasize that your printing plant here in Porto Alegre was the first.

We all know that in 1450 a great invention was made by Johannes  Gutenberg, the printing press. This invention was significant because it gave birth to the abundance of literature. That was the beginning of the information age. Also significant was that the first product printed on that press was a Bible, today known as the Gutenberg Bible. One wonders if it would be the Bible that would be printed first if today such invention was made. I think it is doubtful.

During these days of the Prophetic Congress, we were confronted with the reality of the seriousness of our times and how close the coming of our Lord must be. At this point in time, we are still in the dispe n s ation of grace. Just as in the beginning of the pri nting press, the Word of God was pri nted first, we, the coworkers and missionaries, continue to do likewise, we are printing the Word of God invarious forms such as tracts, booklets and magazines, all aiming to reach people with the message that it is still the day of salvation, the day of grace.

On behalf of our Board of Directors, I want to express my thanks to all you who make this work function, producing the printed page. You are regularly in our prayers and I wa nt to emphasize that the leading brethren in Switerland are very glad to hear of your dedicated serv i ce. Whatever your capacity is, whether in the printing plant, organizational structure, or in the studio, I want to say thank you for your good work.

In closing, I would like to give you an encouragement that is found in 1 Corinthians 15:58: “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye sted fast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” I take liberty in saying that your work here is the work of the Lord and be cause of this wonderful and unique work you and we are called for, we have the deep assuran ce that “your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” It is the Lord Himself who will sustain this important outreach, He will encourage you and He will see to it that the needed funds will come in soon so this beautiful new facility will enclose the sound of the next printing press.
