Colossians 1:13 reads, “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.” Note: this is written in the past tense, “hath delivered.” That’s a done deal. No need to go to any deliverance ministry. Verse 14 says, “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins” (read also 2 Corinthians 1:10 and Romans 6:17).
Nowhere in Scripture did the disciples or the early believers pray for the filling of the Holy Spirit; it always occurred after they were powerless in themselves. In Acts 4, they were forbidden to preach in the name of the Lord. What was their prayer? “That with all boldness [we] may speak thy word.” As a result, we read in verse 31, “They were all filled with the Holy Ghost.”
