Dear Brother in the Lord,
I was rereading the April 2010 Midnight Call “Letter to the Editor,” discussing if children are “safe.”
What does 1 Corinthians 7:14 mean where it says the believing should not put away the unbelieving spouse, for the unbelieving husband/wife is sanctified by the believing spouse, “else were your children unclean; but now are they holy”?
I am 82 years old, was born in 1929, and received Christ as Savior and Lord in 1941 at age 11. I read the Bible through each year by reading 3 chapters per day. But I haven’t the past 2 years since I have been bedridden and need a caregiver to bring my Bible to me when I want it. My 52-year-old son does everything for me 24 hours each day.

Answer: The word “sanctified” is in reference to their position. Such a person (unbeliever) is in the realm of a saint, but not saved. This term can also be applied to children who are born into Christian homes, but they still have to make their own decision regarding eternal salvation.
The Lord bless your son for his sacrificial service in taking care of you.
